PITISCUS

It was report by observer Daniel del Valle of Puerto Rico that points of light were seen inside the crater Pitiscus. His observation goes as follows: Tonight I was observing and drawing the crater Pitiscus, As I was about t finish the drawing I noticed three bright spots in the shadow on the crater's floor that were not there at the beginning of the drawing. I added them in thinking they may be hills or peaks on the crater's floor that were just emerging from the shadow into sunlight. Upon checking Rukl's atlas I found that apparently Pitiscus has no peaks or hills on its floor.  So what were the three bright spots. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a real L.T.P. but at least it's interesting.

The following image taken by the Clementine space craft give a good rendition of the crater morphology.

Up coming observing windows that the lighting conditions  under the same colongitude of 335.90 will be presented. You will have to take into account your location in the world and if the Moon is above your horizon and if it  is still daylight at your location.

Take advantage of the opportunity to examine this crater and submit an L.T.P. report whether negative or positive.  I have not had the opportunity to examine this crater under similar lighting conditions but will do so as time permits. You can contact the L.T.P. recorder at:  dod121252@aol.com
