GROUND BASED OBSERVING PROGRAMS

OBSERVATORY  L.T.P. MONITORING PROGRAM

1967

In 1967 the Corralitos Observatory conducted an observing program to monitor the Moon using a 24 inch  Cassegrain reflector and image-orthicon tube. They logged more than 3000 hours of observing time. For more information on this subject click on the image of the Observatory in the stars.

LUNAR INTERNATIONAL OBSERVING NETWORK

1969

The Lunar International Observers Network  was organized by Miss Barbara Middlehurst in 1969 at its peak it consisted of 216 astronomical observing stations in 30 countries. The network consisted of professional and amateur astronomers who have particular interest in lunar transient phenomena. The most significant contribution of this program was the coordinated observing program in conjunction with the manned Apollo missions to the Moon. CLEMENTINE SPACECRAFT

19 FEBRUARY TO 3 MAY 1994

The Clementine space craft while in lunar orbit for 71 days acquired just under 2 million digital images. The results of the ground based observing program conducted by Association of Lunar & Planetary Observers lunar transient phenomena section. For more information about the results of the ground based observing program  and my efforts to make it happen, click on the image of Clementine space craft.

LUNAR PROSPECTOR

6 JANUARY 1998 TO 31 JULY 1999

The Lunar Prospector mission began on January 6, 1998 and achieved polar orbit January 15. On board the space craft on board the  Neutron Spectrometer, Gamma-Ray Spectrometer, Magnetometer/Electron Reflectometer, Doppler Gravity experiment, and the Alpha Particle Spectrometer. I have contacted Dr. Alan Binder to present my request to observe the Moon active Lunar Transient Phenomena sites during the passage of the space craft. The results of that ground based observing program can be found by clicking on the image of the Lunar Prospector.
